The Buffalo Bills tried out DB Duke Thomas and hosted WR JJ Nelson for a visit on Sunday, according to Aaron Wilson.
Nelson, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year rookie contract before signing on with the Raiders.
The Raiders later released Nelson and he eventually signed with the 49ers before being released with an injury settlement back in September.
In 2019, Nelson appeared in two games for the Raiders and caught four passes for 36 yards receiving and one touchdown.
Thomas, 26, wound up signing on with the Texans after going undrafted out of Texas back in 2016. He signed a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Texans but was waived with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and later reverted to their injured reserve.
Thomas joined the Eagles and 49ers before the Cowboys signed him to a futures contract back in 2017. He was waived at the start of the 2018 season.
After brief stints with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL and the San Antonio Commanders of the AAF, Thomas signed with the Vikings but was later waived. He most recently signed to the Cardinals’ practice squad before being waived once again.
During his four-year college career, Thomas recorded 169 tackles, one sack, six interceptions, a forced fumble, and 20 pass defenses for Texas.
