According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, some around the NFL have linked the Lions and Bills as potential landing spots for Chargers RB Melvin Gordon if he’s traded by tomorrow’s deadline.
Fowler mentions that both teams could be in the market for running back help and Gordon would be an option worth considering if the Chargers end up coming down in terms of their asking price.
It’s worth mentioning that the Titans were linked to RB Kenyan Drake before he was traded to the Cardinals earlier in the day.
The Chargers have gotten great production out of Austin Ekeler, which has led to speculation that Gordon could be a trade candidate worth watching.
Gordon, 26, is a former first-round pick out of Wisconsin by the Chargers in the 2015 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year $10.669 million rookie contract that was fully guaranteed and made a base salary of $1,889,967 for the 2018 season.
The Chargers picked up Gordon’s fifth-year option this past May worth $5,605,000 for the 2019 season. He’s in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2019, Gordon has appeared in four games for the Chargers and rushed for 112 yards on 44 carries (2.5 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 37 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
