Bills Re-Sign QB Tarvaris Jackson

Buffalo Bills new head coach Doug Marrone mentioned that they’ve reached an agreement with soon-to-be free agent QB Tarvaris Jackson, via BuffaloBills.com.

“I spoke with Ryan (Fitzpatrick) and Tarvaris (Jackson) and told them we will have an open competition at the quarterback position – similar to what we will do at all positions on our team heading into our offseason work,” said Marrone. “I believe that our players will embrace this challenge. We are looking forward to working with our players as we prepare for the 2013 season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds that Jackson’s deal could pay him as much as Buffalo $4.5 million next season.

Jackson was traded to the Bills back in August of last year. Buffalo actually sent a late-round draft pick to Seattle in return for him, but never played him in spite of their struggles this season.

The Bills added QB Aaron Corp to their roster yesterday, so it will be interesting to see if they do anything will Ryan Fitzpatrick given that he’s set to make $7.25 million next season, which includes a  $3 million roster bonus due on March 13.
