Bills Sign RB Joe Banyard, CB Leonard Johnson & WR Corey Washington

The Buffalo Bills announced Friday that they’ve signed RB Joe Banyard, CB Leonard Johnson and WR Corey Washington to contracts.

Banyard, 28, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP back in 2012. After a brief stint with the Saints, Banyard caught on with the Vikings and spent just over two years in Minnesota before he was cut loose at the start of last season.

The Jaguars would later sign him to their practice before waiving him at the start of the regular season. Jacksonville brought him back towards the end of the season and he finished out the year with the Jaguars.

In 2016, Banyard appeared in one game for the Jaguars and rushed for seven yards on two carries and no touchdowns.

Johnson, 26, signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State back in 2012. He wound up signing a one-year, $1 million contract with the Buccaneers back in March, but was placed on injured reserve at the start of the regular season.

The Buccaneers waived Johnson from the injured reserve list back in December before joining the Patriots a few months later. After being cut loose by New England back in February, the Panther signed him to a one-year contract in July of last year.

Johnson was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list coming out of the preseason but was later activated in October.

In 2016, Johnson appeared in 10 games and recorded 30 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense.

Washington, 25, originally signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Newberry back in May of 2014. He lasted just a few weeks with the Cardinals before he was waived and later claimed by the Giants.

After a year in New York, Washington had brief stints with the Redskins and Lions before signing on with the Falcons back in July of last year. Unfortunately, he was among Atlanta’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

The Bills wound up signing him to their practice squad in October but he lasted just a few weeks with the team.

In 2014, Washington appeared in 14 games for the Giants and caught five passes for 52 yards receiving and a touchdown.
