Bills To Trade Up, Target Clemson WR Sammy Watkins?

Todd McShay of ESPN.com (insider only) stated in his most recent mock draft that he’s heard “from three league sources…that the Bills are trying to trade up.”

  • McShay added that if the Bills trade up they are likely targeting DE Jadeveon Clowney, OT Greg Robinson or WR Sammy Watkins.

Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 radio suggests that Clemson WR Sammy Watkins is an interesting name to watch adding that a league source has informed him that that the Bills are “enamored” with Watkins.

This is not the first report linking Watkins to Buffalo. Ian Rapoport reported that Watkins met with the Bills in Buffalo last Wednesday.

Buffalo holds the No. 9 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.  The three prospects named by McShay could conceivably be the first three players selected.  Accordingly, even moving up from the ninth pick would require substantial compensation.

If we give up a second round or a pick next year, again it’s a calculated decision. I would say it all depends on the deal,” Bills GM Doug Whaley said. “It’s got to be a right deal and it has to be a calculated deal that is beneficial to us and the other team.”

We have Buffalo selecting North Carolina TE Eric Ebron in our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
