Bills Waive S Jonathan Dowling, Sign CB Greg Mabin

The Buffalo Bills announced Thursday that they’ve waived S Jonathan Dowling and signed CB Greg Mabin to a contract.

Dowling, 25, was taken in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Raiders out of Western Kentucky. His rookie season was cut short after he was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

After the Raiders later cut him loose, Dowling had a brief stint with the Dolphins before eventually signing on to the Bills’ practice squad. Dowling returned to Buffalo last year on a future/reserve contract, but unfortunately suffered a torn ACL during the preseason and spent the year on injured reserve.

In 2014, Dowling appeared in seven games and recorded four tackles while playing a total of 13 snaps.
