According to Howard Balzer, the Bills brought in six free agents for workouts on Tuesday, including QB Taylor Heinicke and CB Marcus Sherels.
The full list of players includes:
- QBs Keller Chryst
- QB Taylor Heinicke
- WR Tommylee Lewis
- WR Joseph Parker
- WR Terrance Williams
- CB Marcus Sherels
Heinicke, 26, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Old Dominion back in 2015. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season but wasn’t active for a single game.
The Vikings elected to waive Heinicke with an injury designation coming out of the preseason in 2017 before eventually cutting him loose with an injury settlement.
Heinicke had brief stints on the Patriots and Texans before being claimed by the Panthers last year. Carolina released him as they trimmed down to the 53-man limit.
In 2018, Heinicke appeared in six games and completed 61.4 of his pass attempts for 320 yards and one touchdown and three interceptions.
Sherels, 31, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota back in 2010. He has played all nine years of his NFL career in Minnesota and just finished out a one-year contract with Minnesota.
Sherels was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent before signing a one-year deal with the Saints back in March. However, New Orleans waived him during final roster cuts with an injury settlement.
In 2018, Sherels appeared in 12 games for the Vikings and totaled 276 punt return yards and 34 kick return yards.
