Bears Trading RB Jordan Howard To Eagles For Conditional 6th-Rd Pick

Adam Schefter reports that the Bears trading RB Jordan Howard to the Philadelphia Eagles for a sixth-round pick in 2020 that can become a fifth-round pick.

The Eagles have already confirmed the news:

Howard had come up in trade rumors for the past year or so and it was clear that Chicago was prepared to move on from him this offseason. The Bears’ backfield now consists of Howard, Tarik Cohen, and Mike Davis

The Eagles really need to add a running back and Howard should be a solid addition to their offense for the 2019 season.

Howard, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bears back in 2016. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $2.588 million contract set to make a base salary of $720,000 for the 2019 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Howard will free up $2,025,000 of available cap space while creating $62,006 in dead money.

In 2018, Howard appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and rushed for 935 yards on 250 carries (3.7 YPC) and nine touchdowns. He also caught 20 passes for 145 yards receiving. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 37 running back out of 62 qualifying players.
