BREAKING: Bills Working On Trade For Bears WR D.J. Moore

Update:

Tom Pelissero reports the Bills will give up a 2026 second-round pick to the Bears for WR D.J. Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick.

Adam Schefter adds that as part of the deal, the Bills will be guaranteeing $15.5 million of Moore’s salary in 2028. His 2026 salary was already guaranteed and most of his 2027 salary had a vesting guarantee next week.

Moore was due $49 million over the next two years, most of it guaranteed, so this is an exceptionally strong return for Chicago. Moore makes out pretty well in the deal, too.

It also ensures Bills GM Brandon Beane won’t have to answer questions about why he hasn’t traded for a receiver, which was a consistent theme in 2025 and probably helps explain why he went so far to land Moore.

Buffalo’s second-rounder is No. 60 overall, while Chicago’s fifth is No. 164.

According to Adam Schefter, the Bears and Bills are finalizing a trade that will send WR D.J. Moore to Buffalo.

Schefter says compensation is still being worked out and a deal can’t be finalized until the start of the league year next Wednesday, but the two sides are well on their way to an agreement.

Ian Rapoport said Chicago will get a mid-round pick for Moore.

Moore has come up as a trade candidate to watch given how his role shrank last year and his significant guaranteed salary this upcoming season. Chicago saves well over $20 million and adds a pick in this deal.

For the Bills, they get a proven weapon for QB Josh Allen for less draft compensation than some other options they were linked to. New Bills HC Joe Brady also worked well with Moore back in Carolina, too.

We recently offered up Four Potential Trade Proposals For Bears WR D.J. Moore.

Moore, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Panthers back in 2018. He was entering the fourth year of his four-year, $11,171,316 contract with Carolina when they picked up his fifth-year option last year worth $11.116 million fully guaranteed in 2022.

From there, Moore agreed to a three-year, $61.884 million extension with $41.61 million fully guaranteed. He was later traded to the Bears as part of the draft trade for Carolina to move up to No. 1 overall.

Chicago gave Moore a new four-year, $110 million deal in July 2024 that locked him in through 2029. He’s scheduled to carry a $28.5 million cap number in 2026.

In 2025, Moore appeared in all 17 games for the Bears and caught 50 passes for 682 yards receiving and six touchdowns. He also rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown.

We’ll have more on the trade as the news is available.
