Browns Trading DE Emmanuel Ogbah To Chiefs For S Eric Murray

Adam Schefter reports that the Browns have traded DE Emmanuel Ogbah to the Chiefs on Monday.

The Chiefs have already announced the trade that sends S Eric Murray to the Browns for Ogbah: 

Albert Breer explains that with the Chiefs signing S Tyrann Mathieu and the Browns acquiring DE Olivier Vernon a couple of weeks back, there was an easy match to fill needs at positions the other addressed.

Ogbah, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Browns back in 2016. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $6.6 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,351,314 for the 2019 season. 

Ogbah will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading will Ogbah free up $1,351,314 of available cap space while creating $751,753 in dead money. 

In 2018, Ogbah appeared in 14 games for the Browns and recorded 40 tackles, three sacks, a fumble recovery and eight pass defenses.

Murray, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2016. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2,967,304 contract and stands to make a base salary of $2,015,500 for the 2019 season.

Murray will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

In 2018, Murray appeared in 15 games for the Chiefs and recorded 55 tackles, one interception and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 50 safety out of 93 qualifying players.
