Manish Mehta reports that the Panthers have agreed to a contract with former Jets WR Robby Anderson.
According to Adam Schefter, Anderson receives a two-year contract worth $20 million and includes $12 million to be paid out in year one.
Prior reports had said Anderson was drawing interest from the Jets, Seahawks, Chargers, 49ers and Raiders but it looks like Carolina stepped up to close the deal.
Anderson was the best available receiver at this point in free agency and he’ll now be reunited with his former college HC Matt Rhule.
The market for receives had been pretty slow-moving this offseason, but this is a respectable deal for Anderson.
Anderson, 26, signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Temple back in 2016. He played out his three-year rookie contract and re-signed to a one-year, $3.095 million deal as a restricted free agent.
Anderson was an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career this offseason.
In 2019, Anderson appeared in 16 games and recorded 52 receptions for 779 yards receiving (15 YPC) and five touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 61 receiver out of 122 qualifying players.
We had him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
