Adam Schefter reports that the Ravens informed veteran WR Michael Crabtree that he is being released on Monday.
Crabtree had come up as a potential cap casualty for the Ravens this offseason, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise. The Ravens are expected to continue overhauling their receiver position in the coming months.
Crabtree, 31, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2009. He spent six years in San Francisco before signing on with the Raiders in 2015.
Crabtree was entering the fourth year of his five-year, $34 million contract when the Raiders released him last year. The Ravens would later sign Crabtree to a three-year, $21 million contract last March.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Crabtree will free up $4,666,666 of available cap space while creating $4,666,666 in dead money.
In 2018, Crabtree appeared in 16 games for the Ravens and caught 54 passes for 607 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 79 receiver out of 117 qualifying players.
