Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Seahawks have placed RB Christine Michael on waivers Tuesday.
It was clear that the Seahawks were moving in a new direction at running back, given that they started C.J. Prosise last weekend and are getting Thomas Rawls back this week. However, it’s surprising to see them move on from Michael after he looked pretty good earlier in the year.
According to Adam Caplan, the Seahawks elected to move on from Michael because Rawls will be back this week, Prosise had surpassed him, and he regressed as a runner this season.
Michael, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2013. He was traded to the Cowboys at the start of the season for a conditional seventh-round pick.
He was in the third year of his four-year, $3.374 million rookie contract when the Cowboys cut him last year. After clearing waivers, the Redskins signed him to their practice squad before releasing him in December.
The Seahawks elected to bring him backย last year and he returned to the team on aย one-year, $765,000 contract.
This season, Michael has appeared in nine games and rushed for 469 yards on 117 carries (4 YPC) to go along with 20 receptions for 96 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns.
