The Denver Broncos placed CB Essang Bassey (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday and designated OLB Derrek Tuszka (hamstring) to return from injured reserve, per Ryan O’Halloran.
This opens a three-week window of time for the Broncos to activate Tuszka from injured reserve and add him to their 53-man roster.
Tuszka, 23, was drafted by the Broncos in the seventh round out of North Dakota State this past April. He signed a four-year, $3.4 million rookie deal but was waived coming out of camp and re-signed to the practice squad.
During his senior year, Tuszka had 48 tackles, including 19 for a loss, 13.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and five pass deflections in 15 games.
