According to Benjamin Allbright, the Broncos are hosting OLB Isaiah Irving for a visit with the intention of signing him to the practice squad.
Irving first has to clear the COVID-19 testing protocols but he’s familiar with HC Vic Fangio‘s defense from their time together in Chicago and would provide more depth for Denver after losing Von Miller.
Irving, 26, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of San Jose State in 2017 but was cut loose coming out of the preseason and later signed to their practice squad.
He was eventually promoted the Chicago’s active roster in October of 2017 and re-signed to a one-year deal as an exclusive rights free agent last offseason. He re-signed again in 2020 on a one-year deal but was cut loose before the start of the season.
In 2019, Irving appeared in 13 games for the Bears and recorded 14 total tackles and no other statistics.
