Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, citing multiple league sources, reports that 49ers GM Trent Baalke may not be out of a job long should he be fired after the season.
According to Maiocco, the most likely landing spot for Baalke is with the Broncos in a position under executive VP John Elway in their personnel or scouting department.
Maiocco adds that the expectation right now is that the 49ers will part ways with Baalke, which fits with a report from this past weekend. Although, a source tells Maiocco that 49ers CEO Jed York has yet to make up his mind regarding Baalke’s future.
Baalke, 52, was promoted by the 49ers to general manager back in 2011. He was named Executive of the Year by the Pro Football Writers Association back in 2011 after the team won 13 games.
Since joining the 49ers back in 2010, the 49ers have a record of 56-52-1, which includes three playoff appearances and a conference title in 2012.
We’ll have more regarding Baalke’s future with the team as the news is available.
