Mike Klis of 9 News reports that the Broncos have informed veteran DT Domata Peko that they will not re-sign him this offseason and allow him to depart in free agency.
Klis says that Denver is seeking a younger alternative at defensive tackle and never discussed an extension with Peko’s representatives.
If the Broncos are unable to find a replacement in free agency, Klis mentions that they’re open to reconsidering Peko.
Peko, 34, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2006. He played 11 years for the Bengals before signing a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the Broncos in 2017.
In 2018, Peko appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and recorded 31 tackles, a half sack and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 39 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.
