Broncos Place OLB Shane Ray On Injured Reserve

The Denver Broncos have placed OLB Shane Ray on injured reserve Tuesday, according to James Palmer. Ray underwent wrist surgery on Friday to have the screws that were inserted during in training camp removed.

This is actually the second time this year that Ray has been placed on injured reserve.

The Broncos put Ray on injured reserve coming out of the preseason with a wrist injury before designating him as one of their two players to return.

Ray, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Broncos back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $9.116 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $1,263,990 and $1,678,485 over the next two years.

The contract also includes a fifth-year option for them to pick up next year.

In 2017, Ray appeared in eight games for the Broncos and recorded 16 tackles and a sack. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 100 edge defender out of 115 qualifying players.
