Mike Klis reports that the Broncos are placing DL Billy Winn on their injured reserve list.
Klis notes that this makes room for RB Theo Riddick on the active roster, who signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Broncos earlier this week.
Winn, 30, was drafted by the Browns in the sixth round of the 2012 draft out of Boise State. He signed a four-year rookie deal through the 2015 season.
At the start of 2015, Winn was traded by the Browns to the Colts for a conditional seventh-round pick. Winn became an unrestricted free agent following the season and signed with the Broncos to a one-year contract.
Denver re-signed him to another one-year deal this offseason.
He hasn’t appeared in a game since 2016 after sustaining multiple torn ligaments in August 2017. It’s unfortunate news for Winn, who was reportedly on track with his recovery prior to training camp.
In 2016, Winn appeared in 16 games for the Broncos, recording 19 total tackles, one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery.
