According to Benjamin Allbright, the Broncos are re-signing QB Blake Bortles to the practice squad.
Allbright says Bortles impressed the team enough to stick around even once the rest of the depth chart returned to full health.
Denver’s practice squad now includes:
- T Quinn Bailey
- WR Trinity Benson
- WR Fred Brown
- RB Jeremy Cox
- DB Alijah Holder
- C Patrick Morris
- T Darrin Paulo
- LB Josh Watson
- DB Kevin Toliver
- DT Deyon Sizer
- DT Darius Kilgo
- LB Nigel Bradham
- DB Chris Cooper
- QB Blake Bortles
Bortles, 28, was taken with the No. 3 overall pick by the Jaguars back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $20,654,796 rookie contract when the Jaguars picked up his fifth-year option.
Jacksonville elected to sign Bortles to a three-year, $54 million contract that included $26.5 million guaranteed. However, they cut him loose last year after signing Nick Foles to a contract.
Bortles caught on with the Rams on a one-year, $1 million deal for the 2019 season. He signed on with the Broncos last month but couldn’t beat Brett Rypien for the backup role.
In 2019, Bortles appeared in three games for the Rams and completed one of his two passing attempts for three yards.
