The Cleveland Browns announced Wednesday that they’ve claimed S Montrel Meander off waivers from the Jets and placed WR D.J. Montgomery on injured reserve.
Meander, 24, wound up signing on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Grambling State back in May of last year. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract, but was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Browns’ practice squad.
The Raiders later signed Meander to their active roster in November before cutting him loose back in June. He was later claimed by the Jets only to be waived on Tuesday.
As a senior at Grambling State, Meander appeared in 13 games and recorded 49 tackles, two interceptions and two pass defenses.
