Browns Promote QB Connor Shaw To Active Roster For Week 17 Start

Update:

Browns HC Mike Pettine announced Friday that QB Connor Shaw will start Sunday’s game against the Ravens.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Browns have agreed to terms with undrafted rookie QB Connor Shaw.

  • Albert Breer mentions that Shaw hasn’t officially signed his contract, but will do so before Sunday’s game.

Shaw will be promoted from the team’s practice squad and start Week 17’s season finale against the Ravens.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns could start rookie QB Connor Shaw in their Week 17 matchup against the Ravens.

Jason La Canfora reported earlier in the day that QB Brian Hoyer sustained a shoulder injury during Sunday’s loss to the Panthers and is considered day-to-day.

Hoyer was filling in for rookie QB Johnny Manziel, who suffered a pulled hamstring in the first half of Sunday’s game.

Cabot mentions that the Browns could be forced to promote Shaw from their practice squad this week.

It’s worth mentioning that the Browns have not confirmed the report regarding Hoyer’s injury, and we still don’t know the extent of Manziel’s injury, but this is something to watch in the coming days.

During his final year at South Carolina, Shaw completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 2,447 yards, 24 touchdowns and one interception while contributing 558 yards rushing.
