This opens up a three-week window for Chubb to practice with the team before Cleveland has to add him to the active roster.
Chubb has been out for a while with an MCL injury but the Browns hope to have him back in the lineup this week.
Cleveland also signed TE Kyle Markway to the practice squad and released OT Timon Parris in a corresponding move.
Chubb, 24, was drafted by the Browns in the second round out of Georgia in 2018. He’s in the third year of a four-year, $7,383,094 contract that included a $3,449,524 signing bonus.
In 2020, Chubb has appeared in four games for the Browns and rushed 57 times for 335 yards and four touchdowns. He’s also added three receptions for 17 yards.
