Browns Have No Plans To Interview Adam Gase For HC Job

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns have no plans to interview former Dolphins HC Adam Gase for their head-coaching position.

According to Cabot, Gase has interviews lined up with at least three other teams for their head coaching vacancies.

This is interesting, given that the Browns have been mentioned as a team to watch for Gase and Browns owner Jimmy Haslam previously tried to him as their head coach. It’s worth mentioning that Haslam’s close friend Peyton Manning has been a big supporter of Gase from their time together in Denver.

The Cardinals will be the first team to meet with Gase on Wednesday, but it won’t be surprising to see him set up more interviews after that.

The list of reported interviews for the Browns includes:

  1. Steelers OL Coach Mike Munchak (Requested)
  2. Browns interim HC Gregg Williams (Scheduled)
  3. Browns OC Freddie Kitchens (Scheduled)
  4. Patriots DC Brian Flores (Requested)
  5. Colts DC Matt Eberflus (Requested)
  6. Saints assistant HC/TEs coach Dan Campbell (Requested)
  7. Vikings interim OC Kevin Stefanski (Scheduled)
  8. Colts OC Nick Sirianni (Requested)
  9. Former Lions & Colts HC Jim Caldwell (Expected)

Gase, 40, began his NFL coaching career with the Lions back in 2003 as a scouting assistant. He spent five years in Detroit before taking a job with the 49ers for the 2008 season.

The Broncos would later hire Gase as their WRs coach and he worked his way up to offensive coordinator before they replaced their coaching staff in 2015. Gase spent a year with the Bears before the Dolphins hired him as their head coach in 2016.

During his three years as the Dolphins’ head coach, Gase has led Miami to a record of 23-25 (47.9 percent), which includes one playoff appearance.
