Browns Hosting Dez Bryant For Visit Thursday

Dianna Russini reports that the Browns are hosting free agent WR Dez Bryant for a visit on Thursday.

On Monday, Browns HCย Hue Jackson said that he “[doesn’t]ย you can ever have too many good football players” when asked about Bryant.

โ€œItโ€™sย a discussion,โ€ Jackson said, via Cleveland.com. โ€œWe have a lot of good things going, but at the same time I donโ€™t think you can ever have too many good football players as long as they fit and as long as itโ€™s the right fit for the organization, for the locker room and for all involved.โ€

After being called out by Browns GM John Dorsey for not returning calls, Bryant announced that he was going to begin taking visits this week and would meet with the Browns.

According to Dorsey, Cleveland will be hosting other free agentย receivers for visits next week.

As of now, the Browns appear to be the team that makes the most sense for Bryant, seeing as they traded Corey Coleman away and Josh Gordon isn’t with the team, as he works through some personal issues.

Bryant reportedly turned down a three-year, $21 million offer from the Ravens after he was released a few months ago. Since then, the market has been very slow-moving for Bryant, so it shouldn’t come as a big surprise to hear that he may end up waiting another month or so before signing.

Bryant, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2010. He was in the third year of his five-year, $70 million contract that included $45 million guaranteed and was set to make base salaries of $12.5 million over the final two years of the agreement when Dallas released him in a move that freed upย $8.5 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Bryant has appeared in 15 games for the Cowboys and has caught 66 passes for 814 yards receiving and six touchdowns.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 45 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
