Browns Place WR Miles Austin On Season-Ending I.R.

The Cleveland Browns announced Wednesday that they have placed veteran WR Miles AustinĀ on season-ending injured reserve and replaced him with RB Shaun Draughn.

Austin, 30, has been hospitalized with a kidney issue for the past few days, so it’s really not all that surprising to see the Browns shut him down for the year and allow him to get back to full strength.

The Browns signed him to a one-year contract worth $2 millionĀ back in May. It was surprising to see them not be more aggressive in pursuing upgrades at the receiver position during the offseason, but they felt they could make due with Austin.

Austin’s 2014 season comes to an end with him cathching 47 passes for 568 yards and two touchdowns.
