The Cleveland Browns announced Wednesday that they’ve promoted LB Montrel Meander to the active roster and waived OT Alex Taylor from injured reserve with a settlement.
The Browns could use some linebacker depth with Mack Wilson and Jacob Phillips both dealing with knee injuries.
Meander, 25, wound up signing on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Grambling State back in 2018. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract, but was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Browns’ practice squad.
Meander had brief stints with the Raiders and Jets before he returned to Cleveland after being claimed. Meander returned to the Browns on a futures contract but was waived and later re-signed to the practice squad coming out of camp.
As a senior at Grambling State, Meander appeared in 13 games and recorded 49 tackles, two interceptions and two pass defenses.
