Browns Release QB Matt Blanchard From Practice Squad, Sign OL Erle Ladson

The Cleveland Browns announced Thursday that they’ve released QB Matt Blanchard from their practice squad and replaced him with OL Erle Ladson.

The Browns’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. OL Erle Ladson
  2. LB Cam Johnson (Exception)
  3. DB Kendall James
  4. WR Darius Jennings
  5. OT Andrew McDonald
  6. OT Darrian Miller
  7. LB Hayes Pullard
  8. DB De’Ante Saunders
  9. DE Dylan Winn
  10. G Garth Gerhart

Blanchard, 26, originally signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin-Whitewater back in May of 2012. He spent his first year on the team’s practice before he was waived at the start of the 2013 season.

The Packers would later sign him to a contract before this year’s draft, only to use a fifth-round pick on Brett Hundley, which left Blanchard as the odd-man-out in Green Bay once roster cuts were made.

During his time at Wisconsin-Whitewater, he led the team to three Division III national titles.

Blanchard has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Ladson, 23, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Delaware back in May last year. He was unable to make the 53-man roster that, and wound up waiting until this summer before the Browns signed him to a contract. However, Ladson was once again unable to make the 53-man roster.
