Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports that sources he’s spoken to believe the Browns are the favorites to sign Titans RT Jack Conklin.
However, Hughes says the Jets are still in the mix, but have a price many believe they’re unwilling to exceed for Conklin. Hughes adds that depending on what happens with G Graham Glasnow, who is another target for the Jets, they could reallocate some money to Conklin.
Reports have linked Conklin to the Jets and Browns for a few weeks now, given their obvious offensive line needs and the fact that he’s the best available offensive lineman in free agency.
Conklin, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Titans out of Michigan State back in 2016. He just finished the final year of his four-year, $15,897,658 deal and made a base salary of $2,617,863 for the 2019 season.
The Titans declined Conklin’s fifth-year option last year that would have been worth $12.866 million, making him an unrestricted free agent this year for the first time in his career.
In 2019, Conklin started all 16 games for the Titans at right tackle. He finished the year as Pro Football Focus‘ No. 10 offensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
We have him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
