The Clevelandย Browns announced Sunday that they’ve signed TE Julian Allen and DL Lenny Jones to contracts.
Both players were taking part in the Browns’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis and it appears as though they showed enough to earn an extended opportunity with the team.
Allen wound up going undrafted out of Southern Mississippi last week before securing a tryout with the Browns. Allen began his college career at Lackawanna College before transferring to Southern Miss in 2015.
During his two years at Southern Miss, Allen caught 22 passes for 298 yards receiving and one touchdownย over the course of 15 games.
Jones, 26, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada back in 2016. He had brief stints with the Raiders and Rams before catching on with the Cowboys last January. Unfortunately, Dallas waived him with an injury designation coming out of the preseason.
During his four-year college career at Nevada, Jones recorded 151 tackles, 31.5 tackles for a loss, 20 sacks, three interceptions, 15 pass defenses, four forced fumbles, three recoveries and one defensive touchdown.
