The Browns announced on Tuesday they have waived TE Rico Gathers from the roster.
Gathers had just come off his suspension for Week 1. Cleveland signed him back in August after Dallas moved on.
Gathers, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in May of 2016. He was, unfortunately, cut loose coming out of the preseason and later signed to the team’s practice squad at the start of the regular season.
Dallas brought Gathers back on a future/reserve contract in 2017 but he was placed on injured reserve after sustaining a concussion during the preseason. Gathers was in line to be a restricted free agent in 2020 when the Cowboys cut him this year.
In 2018, Gathers appeared in 15 games for the Cowboys and caught three passes for 45 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
