Buccaneers Bench Jameis Winston For Ryan Fitzpatrick

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have benched QB Jameis Winston for Ryan Fitzpatrick during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Bengals.

This comes after Winston threw his fourth interception that was returned for a touchdown.

Fitzpatrick filled in for the Buccaneers while Winston served a suspension and performed well to open the season, but regressed soon after.

Winston, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He’s set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season and will earn $20.922 million for the 2019 season under his fifth-year option.

Entering today’s game, Winston had appeared in three games for the Buccaneers and thrown for 905 yards while completing 69 percent of his passes to go along with five touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown.

  1. As much as I hate to say being a life long Seminoles and Bucs fan Jameis is at best a back up QB. If Dirk Koetter were smart he would keep Fitzpatrick as the starter for the remainder of season and could quite possibly save his job as the head coach by doing so.
