Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Buccaneers Cย Evan Smith suffered a grade-2 MCL sprain during Sunday’s game and is expected to miss around three weeks.
The injury to Smith took place in the first quarter and he was replaced by Ben Gottschalk at center.
Smith, 30, originally signed on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent back in 2009. After four years in Green Bay, Smith signed a four-year, $14.25 million contract with the Buccaneers back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his contract and stands to make a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2016 season.
This year, Smith has appeared in seven games for the Buccaneers and has played a total of 169 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
