Buccaneers HC Dirk Koetter confirmed thatย QB Jameis Winston will be out โnext couple of weeks,” per Greg Auman.
Koetter added that doctors have determined that this is the best course of action for Winston, per Roy Cummings.

Rick Stroud of theย Tampa Bay Timesย reports that the Buccaneers areย discussing the possibility of shutting down QB Jameis Winston for โa couple weeks to let his shoulder heal.โ
- Stroud expects the Buccaneers to officially activateย QB Ryan Griffin from injured reserve this week.
Winstonย reinjured his shoulder during the first half of Sunday’s game against the Saints and was replaced byย Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Winston originally suffered an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder a few weeks ago. However, Ian Rapoport reports thatย Winston is now dealing withย a rear deltoid issue on top of the AC joint sprain.
Winston, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $25.35 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2017, Winston has appeared in eight games and rushed for 1,920 yards on 246 carries (61.4 YPC) to go along with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also rushed for 51 yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 15 quarterback out of 34 qualifying players.
