Buccaneers DT Akeem Spence Facing One-Game Suspension

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Buccaneers DT Akeem Spence has been notified he’s facing a one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on substances of abuse.

  • According to Rapoport, this suspension stems from Spence’s arrest for marijuana last year.

Spence, 23, was taken in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft and has two years remaining on his four-year, $2,644,424 rookie contract.

He stands to make a base salary of $585,000 in 2015 and another $675,000 next year.

In 2014, Spence appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 39 tackles, two sacks, and two fumble recoveries. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 79 defensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
