Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Buccaneers DT Beau Allen agreed to a $1 million pay cut in exchange for new guarantees added to his contract to solidify his roster status.
According to Adam Caplan, Allen was previously due $5 million in total cash ($3.5 million in non-guaranteed base salary and a $1.5 million fully guaranteed roster bonus) for the 2019 season.
Allen’s total compensation for 2019 is now is $4 million fully guaranteed, which up from $1.5m fully guaranteed and $1 million in play-time incentives.
Allen, 27, is a former seventh-round pick by the Eagles in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played out the final year of a four-year rookie contract worth $2,282,248 before agreeing to a three-year, $15 million contract with the Buccaneers.
In 2018, Allen appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 20 tackles and no sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 104 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.
