Update:
Bruce Arians tells Ian Rapoport that he would listen to the Buccaneers, given that he knows GM Jason Licht.
“I know Jason (Licht). So, I would listen,โ Arians said.
Alex Marvez reports that the Buccaneers have “legit interest” in former Cardinals HC Bruce Arians for their head-coaching vacancy.
Other potential candidates for the Buccaneers, according to Marvez, includeย Jack Del Rio and Jim Caldwell.
Arian publicly expressed interest in the Browns’ head-coaching job and said it’s the only one he’d seriously consider.
However, Arian later implied thatย it’s unlikely he’ll return to coaching next year, according to Tyler Dunne of B/R.
“Itโs probably 99-to-1 against,” Arians told Dunne regarding the odds of him coaching next year.
The Buccaneers are believed to be looking to make a splash hire, which is why they’ve been connected to names like Arians and Mike McCarthy.
Arians, 66,ย was hired by the Cardinals back in 2013 after he filled in for Colts HC Chuck Pagano while he was fighting cancer and managed to win Coach of the Year. During his five years with the Cardinals, Arians led them to a record of 49-30-1 (61.9 percent), which includes two playoff appearances and a trip to the NFC Championship game in 2015.
We’ll have more regarding Arians as the news is available.
