Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Buccaneers still have some long-term deals they would like to get done with players including G Ali Marpet, LB Kwon Alexander and LT Donovan Smith.
According to Rapoport, agent Drew Rosenhaus was at the team’s facility on Tuesday to work on a potential extension for Alexander, but nothing is considered imminent at this time.
Alexander, 24, is a former fourth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2,758,320 contract and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.
In 2017, Alexander appeared he 12 games after serving a four-game suspension and recorded 97 tackles, no sacks, three interceptions, a forced fumble and four pass defenses.
Smith, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2015. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $6.068 million contract and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.
Smith is in line to be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.
In 2017, Smith appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and is rated by Pro Football Focusย as the No. 47 offensive tackle out of 79 qualifying players.
We’ll have more regarding new contracts for these Buccaneers’ players as the news is available.
