Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Buccaneers will interview Vikings DCย George Edwards for their head-coaching job on Friday.
The Buccaneers have also requested to meet with Chiefs OCย Eric Bieniemy.ย
There has been a decent amount of buzz about the Buccaneers targeting an experienced head coach, but it appears as though they plan to meet with some coordinators to start.
Edwards interviewed for the Bears’ job last year before they elected to hire Matt Nagy.
Edwards, 51, began his coaching career back in 1991 as an assistant at Florida. He worked for a few colleges before accepting the LBs coaching job with the Cowboys in 1998.
Since then, Edwards has worked for a number of NFL teams including the Redskins, Browns, Dolphins and Bills before the Vikings hired him as their defensive coordinator in 2014.
In 2018, the Vikings’ defense ranked No. 4 in yards allowed, No. 9 in points allowed, No. 15 in rushings yards allowed and No. 3 in passing yards allowed.
