According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Buccaneers were focused on re-signing their own players before Tom Brady agreed to sign with them.
Fowler mentions that the Buccaneers could look to bring WR Breshad Perriman back as a downfield threat for Brady to work with.
Tampa Bay already has an impressive tandem of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, so many assumed that Perriman could move on for a larger role with a different team. However, the receiver market has been very slow-moving up to this point due in part to how deep the receiver draft class is.
Perriman, 26, is a former first-round pick out of Central Florida by the Ravens in the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent over three seasons in Baltimore before he was cut loose coming out of the preseason.
The Redskins signed Perriman to a contract during the season, but elected to waive him loose after. The Browns later signed him to a contract and he finished out the year in Cleveland.
Last year, Perriman agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract with the Browns before asking the team to let him out of the agreement so he could sign with the Buccaneers.
In 2019, Perriman appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers and caught 36 passes for 645 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
