The Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially re-signed restricted free agentย WR Russell Shepard to a one-year contract on Monday.
- The Bucs also re-signed exclusive rights DE Jacquies Smith.
The Buccaneers used a low-round tender on Shepard that will run them $1,671,000 for the 2016 season. This designation gave them theย right of first refusal on any contract offer heย received, but wouldn’t have included anyย compensationย had they elected to not match an offer.
Shepard, 25, wound up signing on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of LSU back in 2013. He lasted just a few months with the Eagles before he was waived and later claimed by the Buccaneers.
In 2015, Shepard appeared in 13 games and caught three passes for 28 yards receiving and a touchdown.
