Buccaneers Re-Sign WR Louis Murphy, Waive WR Chris Owusu

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed veteran WR Louis Murphy to a contract on Tuesday just a few weeks after they cut him loose to make room for Solomon Patton.

  • The Bucs placed WR Chris Owusu on waivers in a corresponding roster move.

Murphy, 27, was taken in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Raiders and last three years with the team before he was traded to the Panthers in 2012. The Buccaneers signed him to a one-year deal worth $795,000 back in March, but ultimately released at the start of the season.

In 2013, appeared in 14 games and totaled six receptions for 37 yards receiving and a touchdown while contributing on special teams.
