Buccaneers Sign Former Eagles WR Josh Huff To Practice Squad

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed former Eagles WR Josh Huff to their practice squad on Monday, according to Rick Stroud.

The Buccaneersโ€™ practice squad now consists of:

  2. OL Ben Gottschalk
  3. CB Javien Elliott
  4. Sย Isaiah Johnson
  5. DT Rodney Coe
  6. DE Ryan Russell
  7. DB Trae Elston
  8. TE Tevin Westbrook
  9. WR Josh Huff
  10. WR Donteea Dye

Lastย Tuesday, Huff was arrested for DUI, speeding, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a weapon, carrying six hollow-point bullets, and tinted windows.

Huff released the following statement, via ESPN’s Adam Caplan, regarding the team’s decision to waive him on Thursday:

First, I want to apologize to Mr. Lurie and his family, my coaches and teammates, and all Eagles fans. I’m sorry that any action by me brought negative light to this organization. I want to thank the Lurie Family, Howie, this community and the entire Eagles organization for the opportunity I’ve had for the past 3 years. Most important, I want to let the fans and community as a whole know that I understand the responsibility I have as a professional athlete, and I will take all measures necessary to correct mistakes I have made.

Huff, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2014. He was in the third year of his four-year, $2,820,944 contract and set to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2016 season when the Eagles cut him loose last week.

This season, Huff has appeared in seven games for the Eagles and caught 13 passes for 72 yards receiving and a touchdown to go along with three rushing attempts for 10 yards. He has also totaled 252 kick return yards and a touchdown for the Eagles on special teams.
