According to Greg Aumna, the Buccaneers have waived rookie QB Brett Smith, P Jacob Schum & DT David Hunter on Wednesday.
Tampa Bay signed QB Alex Tanney to a contract on Tuesday, so it’s really not all that surprising that a subsequent transaction was made.
Tanney will likely compete with QB Mike Kafka for the team’s No. 3 quarterback job in OTAs and training camp.
As for Smith, he made 35 starts at Wyoming and managed to throw for 8,834 yards while completing 62 percent of his passes to go along with 76 touchdowns.
It would not be surprising to see him catch on with another team and possibly earn a spot on someone’s practice squad this summer.
