The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Wednesday that they’ve waived QB Vincent Testaverde and signed S John Battle and DL Stevie Tu’ikolovatu.
- The Buccaneers also placed OL Mike Liedtke on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
Testaverde is the son of former Buccaneers QB Vinny Testaverde. He attended Buccaneers’ rookie minicamp earlier this summer before signing a contract with the teams a few weeks ago.
Testaverde spent a year at Texas Tech before transferring to Miami and then ending up at Albany for his final year of college.
During his senior year of college, Testaverde started eight games, throwing for 1,714 yards and 11 touchdowns while completing 53.4 percent of his passes.
Tu’ikolovatu, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2017. He signed a four-year, $2.49 million contract and stood to make base salaries of $555,000 and $645,000 over the final two years of the agreement.
The Buccaneers waived him with an injury designation in 2018 and he ended up on injured reserve. Tampa Bay cut him loose shortly after this year’s draft.
During his college career at Utah and USC, Tu’ikolovatu recorded 89 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries with one being returned for a touchdown and three pass defenses over the course of three seasons and 28 games.
