Texans & Buccaneers Working Out DL Lamarr Houston

Update:

Ian Rapoport is now reporting that the Texans are flying in free agent DL Lamarr Houston for a visit on Tuesday.

Rapoport adds that Houston could be an option to fill the void left by OLB Whitney Mercilus, who was lost for the season on Sunday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Buccaneers are working out veteran DL Lamarr Houston.

Houston has worked out for the Saints and Patriots since being released but did not receive an offer from either team.

Houston, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Raiders back in 2010. After four years in Oakland, the Bears signed Houston to a five-year, $35 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed.

The Bears placed Houston on injured reserve during the preseason and recently released him with an injury settlement.

It is worth mentioning that Houston landed on the team’s injured reserve in 2014 and 2016 with ACL injuries.

In 2016, Houston recorded four tackles and no sacks for the Bears over the course of two games.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
