Calvin Johnson Played Through A Concussion In Week 4

Lions WR Calvin Johnson joined 97.1 The Ticket for a radio interview and admitted that he played through a concussion that suffered against the Minnesota Viking back in Week 4.

Johnson received a hard hit from Vikings LB Chad Greenway while crossing the middle of the field. Johnson was asked about his comments by reporters.

“Yeah, you could tell. It was obvious,” Johnson said, via Anwar Richardson of MLive.com. “I said exactly what I meant, but I guess you could take it out of context. What I meant when I said you have to keep going is you can’t be afraid to go over the middle. Not that you get concussed you have to keep playing.

Lions head coach insists that Johnson passed all of the required concussion tests before returning to the field.

Our evaluation was he was not concussed,” Schwartz said. “He was thoroughly checked. We were very strong in our evaluation. He was cleared to go back in the game, and he was on a protocol after that, and he was cleared then.”

Johnson later dropped two passes, which was surprising to see from one of the leagues best receivers.
