Cameron Wake Not Retiring From NFL Despite Report

Update:

Cameron Wake’s agent has denied the report that he’s expected to retire from the NFL.

Courtney Fallon hears that former Titans and Dolphins DE Cameron Wake is expected to return from the NFL.

If this is really it for Wake, he had an extremely impressive career for an undrafted free agent who ended up in the CFL for a few years.

Wake, 38, wound up going undrafted out of Penn State back in 2005. He later signed on with the Giants but was released a few months later.

After two years in the CFL, the Dolphins signed him to a contract for the 2009 season. Wake played out the final year of his two-year, $19 million contract before agreeing to a three-year, $23 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed with the Titans last year.

Unfortunately, Tennesse opted to release Wake earlier in the week.

For his career, Wake recorded 363 tackles, 101 sacks, an interception, 22 forced fumbles, two recoveries and 17 passes defended over the course of 11 seasons. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and a first-team All-Pro selection in 2021.

We have him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
