The Arizona Cardinals announced Tuesday that they’ve claimed CB Trevor Williams off of waivers from the Chargers and waived P Ryan Winslow.
This implies that veteran P Andy Lee is ready to return from injury.
Williams, 26, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State back in 2016. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and signed on with their practice squad. He was eventually promoted to the active roster.
Williams landed on Los Angeles’ injured reserve last December due to a knee injury. He re-signed with the Chargers as a restricted free agent this past offseason but placed on injured reserve before being waived on Monday.
In 2018, Williams appeared in nine games for the Chargers and recorded 23 tackles, one interception and four pass defenses.
