The Arizona Cardinals claimed DT Christian Tupou off of waivers from the 49ers on Friday, according to the NFL transaction release.
Tupou, 25, originally signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of USC back in 2012. He later joined the 49ers in January of this year, but was recently released to make room for QB Josh Johnson who was signed earlier in the week.
He appeared in six games last year and totaled three tackles on the season.
The Cardinals have Darnell Dockett, Frostee Rucker, Everrette Thompson and Ed Stinson at defensive tackle, so this will be his competition entering training camp.
